“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
Where is your focus? When your morning alarm sounds and your eyes attempt to open, what do you seek first? Is it your phone to stare bleary-eyed at the notifications you received during the night? Is it the ingredients in your fridge that you need to get your kids fed before school? Is it your own will to meditate on yesterday’s problems? Here’s the thing, when we seek first the kingdom of God, everything else in our life falls in line at attention to God’s authority. Sometimes, we get distracted by the things we want, that we forget to give thanks for the things God has given us. We lose a kingdom mindset and take on an earthly one in which the pressure to take care of ourselves weighs heavily on our shoulders. Jesus encourages us to keep our eyes on what matters in this life: a relationship with Him!
"GOD IS FAITHFUL TO PROVIDE THE THINGS WE DIDN'T KNOW WE NEEDED."
LORD, you are my priority. Thank you for providing everything for me. Please forgive me for having an attitude of entitlement with you. Please help me to be like a child in my dependence on you. Everything I have is yours, and you can take it all. Thank you for replacing my desires with your own as I seek you first.
