“Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint, but blessed is he who keeps the law.”
God gave us prophets to communicate with us after the separation of the fall. The prophets did not just carry messages from God, but they served as a reminder to God’s people that they are part of a bigger story. When humans lose sight of an eternal perspective, wickedness runs rampant when there is no prophetic vision. People justify their sin by claiming that they are “living in the moment” or that “it doesn’t matter if I do it just this once.” Grace was not cheap so let’s be careful not to treat it as such. How have you lost sight of eternity? Is there a specific area that you are struggling to surrender to the Lord? Before giving in, remember the blessings in store for you if you choose obedience.
"KEEPING GOD'S LAW IS NOT AN OBLIGATION; IT'S AN ACT OF LOVE."
LORD, you are sovereign. Your plan for eternity is unfathomable and great. Thank you for your grace. Please forgive me for treating your sacrifice on the cross as a historical event and not as a transformative gift. Please help me to keep my eyes on you and not live for my own pleasure.
