"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." -Philippians 4:6
About a year ago this time, I had a very important exam to take for college. I decided to leave early so I could cram before the exam. When I walked into the driveway, I saw that I had a flat tire! Thankfully, my dad was home and helped me change it quickly to arrive on time for the midterm.
Naturally, there was an accident across all but one lane on the highway. I glanced at the clock at 9:30 in bumper-to-bumper traffic (the exam was at 10 AM). I prayed, "God, I can't get to school in 30 minutes, park, and make it in time. Please, give me an extra 15 minutes!"
Somehow, when I had finally passed the crash zone, I rechecked the time, and it still read 9:30! I don't know how but God stopped time for me that morning!
When I give into anxiety and doubt, what I'm telling God is, "I don't believe that you will take care of me so I have to do it for myself."
Thanksgiving communicates the opposite and reminds me that I am not self-sufficient.
When I pray and give thanks, I acknowledge His power in a situation.
God cares about every detail of your life! Nothing is too big or too small to bring before Jesus.
LORD, thank you for caring about every aspect of my life! I receive you afresh today. You are sovereign and kind in all of Your ways to me. Thank you for working on my behalf even when I doubt You.
