“They mounted up to heaven; they went down to the depths; their courage melted away in their evil plight; they reeled and staggered like drunken men and were at their wits’ end. Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress.”
If you’ve ever been to the beach on a day where the water is so clear you can see your toes, you know that it’s a refreshing experience. If you go on a day where the water is murky, you tend to enjoy it less because you wonder what kind of creatures are lurking beneath you. A pervasive human fear is fear of the unknown. In the darkness, people don’t have a clear path or direction; they fumble about, hoping not to injure themselves in the process. God knows that that is not the right place for us to be. When people choose evil, it always brings death; when they decide to seek the Lord, there is a lightbulb that glows in their hearts, illuminating the correct path. That light is the Holy Spirit, dwelling within us. When we feel like we are stumbling through life, Jesus reminds us that He is the light that rescues us from the darkness. In the face of the unknown, we can walk confidently because the blood of Christ covers us. He is our rescuer.
"WHEN WE DECIDE TO SEEK THE LORD, THERE IS A LIGHTBULB THAT GLOWS IN OUR HEARTS, ILLUMINATING THE CORRECT PATH."
