Our Portion

LAMENTATIONS 3:22-24

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. 'The Lord is my portion,' says my soul, 'therefore I will hope in him.'”

Guess what? This morning we awakened into the Lord's mercy once again. Tomorrow and the day after, we will do the same. Every sunrise is a reminder of God's faithfulness. Through the past year of confusion, loneliness, fear, anger, and illness, we are reminded that Jesus truly is our only hope. Sometimes I gaze sadly at my world, knowing that many people's circumstances are crushing. These are the times when I thank the Lord because I can throw my sorrows at his feet in exchange for his grace.

A wise woman at my Friday night Bible study says thatgrace is the supernatural power to do the will of God. Does anyone else think of a superhero when they read that? I envision myself dragging my feet to the throne of God and falling to my knees under the weight of my burden when Christ steps forward to take that weight and wrap me in a super-suit infused with His power.

"JESUS IS OUR HOPE."

LORD, thank you for your mercy and grace. Please take my fear and sadness and give me your grace instead. Father, forgive me for letting my feelings determine my reality. Please show me your love for me so I may go and share it with those who have never felt it. You are my portion, and I will hope in you forever.
