Look up and swim back!

JAMES 1:25

“But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.”

When we look to Jesus, the Word in the flesh, we start to be more like Him. My mom has a very distinct phone voice with each of her friends, and I know who is on the other line just by hearing her side of the conversation. This is how we are with God. Others should only have to look at us, or listen to us, to know we follow Jesus. If you’ve ever gone swimming in the ocean as a child, you know that if you don’t pay attention, the current could take you far from where your parents are on the shore. When this happens, all you have to do is look up, locate them, and swim back! Maybe this happens fifty times on a day when the current is stronger. In our walk with the Lord, we may get distracted sometimes, but we can always look up and swim back. Do people see evidence of Christ in your life, or do you need to go and take another look at your savior?

"IN OUR WALK WITH THE LORD, WE MAY GET DISTRACTED, BUT WE CAN ALWAYS LOOK UP AND SWIM BACK!"

LORD, you are eternal. Thank you for the work you have done in me. I want to be a doer of your Word, so everyone knows that I am yours! Please forgive me for turning away from your perfect law. Holy Spirit, please keep me on the narrow path and convict me of anything that displaces you.
