“Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”
God loves to bring life through impossible circumstances. We serve the God of Abraham, the One who delights in bringing forth life from death and miracles from the impossible. God opened the barren womb of Sarah to conceive her son, Isaac, who fathered Jacob, who became Israel- the father of God's chosen people. Isaiah prophesies that the Lord will again prove His power by sending His holy son to be born of a virgin.Even in the womb, the lamb of God was unblemished to fulfill the requirements for an atoning sacrifice.
The name Immanuel means, "God with us." Throughout the scriptures, God commands His people not to fear because He is with them. Immanuel's name didn't just hint at His identity but served as a reminder to God's people that they need not fear because God came to be with them for a time. Little did they know that once the babe accomplished God's will on the cross that fear would die with Him.
"WE SERVE THE GOD OF ABRAHAM, THE ONE WHO DELIGHTS IN BRINGING FORTH LIFE FROM DEATH AND MIRACLES FROM THE IMPOSSIBLE."
LORD, we praise you for keeping your promises. There is not one thing that you say that isn't true. Thank you for bringing life from death and for making me new. Please help me not to turn back and walk into death but to stride forward in your victory. Jesus, I receive you afresh today. Please help me to know you and to encourage others to know you too. You are the greatest gift I've ever received.
