“From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me— holy is his name.”
Mary would have most likely grown up hearing the prophecies about the Messiah. When her cousin, Elizabeth, welcomed Mary into her home, she called her blessed. Elizabeth’s baby leaped in her womb, and she knew that Mary’s pregnancy was a supernatural one that would change the course of history. Mary responded by recognizing that the baby she carried was a blessing. Though it would cost her to carry and deliver the Son of God, Mary continues her song with gratitude for the great thing the Lord has done for her. Do we recognize what a good thing the LORD did in sending His Son down to earth for us? Do we embrace the Christian life with delight because our God is perfect and holy?
"THOUGH IT WOULD COST HER TO CARRY AND DELIVER THE SON OF GOD, MARY CONTINUES HER SONG WITH GRATITUDE FOR THE GREAT THING THE LORD HAD DONE FOR HER."
LORD, you are holy. Thank you for sending your perfect Son to carry the weight of my sin on the cross so that I could have a relationship with you. Please forgive me for all of the times I complain about following your laws. Help me to surrender my thoughts to you and give you my whole heart. May you be magnified in my life.
