“By his blessing they multiply greatly, and he does not let their livestock diminish. When they are diminished and brought low through oppression, evil, and sorrow, he pours contempt on princes and makes them wander in trackless wastes.”
God’s ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts. Since all things are in His hands, the LORD can give or take away as He pleases. God’s blessing or taking is not dependent on what we think His goodness is. Thankfully, God cares about us. He will give or take, but His desire is for our hearts to turn to Him, no matter the circumstance. In this verse, we see God’s generosity in His giving and taking. Generously, He multiplies His people and cares for their needs.
Additionally, in a generous fashion, God allows the princes of the land to wander and takes away their authority. God will use all of His resources, giving or taking, to gain your affections. When we fall into ingratitude, complaint, and stubbornness, we reject an opportunity to strengthen our relationship with our Father and King. When we are grateful for God’s generosity and kindness, He doesn’t fail to exceed our expectations. Therefore, if all is His, giving or taking, we should not hold back in our generosity with others. Our generosity is an outpouring of what He has done for us. And we know He placed His wrath upon His son Jesus on that cross for us, so we should not inherit death but life, life eternal.
"SINCE ALL ARE IN HIS HANDS, THE LORD CAN GIVE OR TAKE AWAY AS HE PLEASES."
LORD,thank you for your generosity in pursuing me with all you have. Please forgive me for being stingy and withholding my affection and gratitude from you. Forgive me for not holding on to Your gospel and what You have already done for me. You are all I want, and you are all I need. Thank you for never leaving me alone but surrounding me with your steadfast love.
