Future Hope

JEREMIAH 29:11

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

There is an age-old question that people ask: Why do bad things happen to good people? Well, if God is in control and something terrible happens, why couldn’t he prevent it? There is something inherently wrong with the assumption that there are good people. Every human since the fall of man was born into a sinful nature. We live in a fallen world where the sin separating us from God has consequences. God cannot do evil. However, the devil prowls like a lion waiting for someone to devour.

Thanks to Jesus Christ, the enemy has been defeated. His power is limited to the twisted lies he tells. These lies prompt people to walk in their naturally sinful flesh rather than believing the Holy Spirit. While the devil plans to seduce us away from God’s presence, God’s plans entail drawing us closer to Himself. He is our hope! The more we live in communion with our Heavenly Father, the more we recognize that there is no better place to be. There is no room for the lies of the devil when we have hidden God’s words in our hearts. Do we trust that the plans God has for us will reap an abundance of good not just for us but for all?

"GOD'S PLANS ENTAIL DRAWING US CLOSER TO HIMSELF."

LORD, thank you for your good plans for my life. You are good and faithful, and I praise your holy name. Father, forgive me for failing to trust in you. Please redefine my life through your eyes.
