“Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses.”
As believers, it is our responsibility to hold one another accountable. Contrary to popular belief, loving someone involves confrontation and lovingly communicating problem areas. It hurts when people point out my flaws because I tend to be highly critical of myself already. Receiving correction from someone who cares about me adds a layer of safety and accountability to the condemnation from within. The Lord showed me in my teen years that correction is not rejection! Real godly friends will be a mouth-piece for the Holy Spirit. As the LORD convicts us, He gives us clear direction and lends us His strength to change our habits. Don’t forget that the Lord disciplines those He loves! Enemies will flatter you into complacency.
"CORRECTION IS NOT REJECTION!"
LORD, thank you for your discipline. Please forgive me for valuing the approval of man over your Holy Spirit. Please help me to receive correction without condemnation. My identity is not my performance. It’s not my effort but your love that transforms me. Thank you for the friends who have loved me through my faults and helped me grow in humility.
