“...with perverted heart devises evil, continually sowing discord; therefore calamity will come upon him suddenly; in a moment he will be broken beyond healing.”
Sowing discord sounds like an evil demon running rampant through the streets, throwing seeds of chaos on whoever is passing. In reality, misunderstanding and division start with a simple, “he said/she said.” The perversion of Truth is Satan’smodus operandi. Gossiping is like putting a filter on an image. The listener doesn’t see the true colors in the photo because of the effects placed over it.
This verse is a sharp warning to beware of miscommunication and bitterness: nothing ruins relationships faster. People fueled by drama and offense will find themselves broken beyond healing; this condition is not just a spiritual one but can manifest itself physically. What kind of pictures do you paint with your words? Are they inviting and honoring or negative and untrustworthy? Controlling the tongue is a challenge, but the Holy Spirit is always available to help you! When we mess up, He is also there to forgive and restore.
"PEOPLE FUELED BY DRAMA AND OFFENSE WILL FIND THEMSELVES BROKEN BEYOND REPAIR."
LORD, thank you for not letting us escape the consequences of our poor decisions. Please forgive me for the times speaking out of turn, saying unkind things, sowing discord, and staying silent when I could have glorified you instead. Please help me to use discernment before I speak. Take away any desire for perversity and replace it with your lovingkindness.
