Matthew 5:16
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
One of the most encouraging things anyone has said to me is, “Christ looks really good on you!” After being in a funk, I repented and asked God to bring me back into His glory. The evidence was undeniable that I was communing with the Holy Spirit. The insecurity I felt in some of my friendships had dissipated. My anxious and easily annoyed attitude was replaced by a cheerful willingness to help others. I didn’t change a thing about myself, but the light of Christ was radiating from my countenance! I knew that when people noticed the shift in my spirit, I could only credit the Lord with the transformation.
The goal of the Christian life is not to be better; it’s to be made new! What do people see when they look at our lives? Do our interactions testify to the reality of a sovereign and loving God?
"GOD IS NOT SEEKING A DISPLAY OF MY CHRIST-LIKENESS, BUT A MANIFESTATION OF HIS CHRIST." - Watchman Nee
LORD, you are all-powerful, and you do all things well. Please forgive me for turning away from you when I need to turn towards you. You know every corner of my heart, Jesus. Please fill me up with your Holy Spirit and mold me into the person you created me to be. May all of my best efforts be wasted unless it’s you working, Father! Let others recognize you when they look at me.
