“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.”
It’s easy to be a peacekeeper when there are no conflicts in our relationships, and everything is hunky-dory! However, God doesn’t say, “Blessed are the peacekeepers,” He says, “Blessed are the peacemakers.” When we feel pressure in our environments, it becomes challenging to take on the role of peacemaker. Being a peacemaker is an active role that requires standing on the Truth and holding up a shield of faith against darts that the Enemy fires at us. Jesus was stripped, beaten, and crucified so that we could have peace with God.
It says in Isaiah that Jesus is our Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. We don’t draw from an empty well! We can call upon the Holy Spirit and trust Him to bring peace amid difficulty. It’s a challenge to boldly speak the truth in love for peace’s sake, no matter what the consequences. I had a friend who would literally stand in front of her Bible and recite scripture aloud while tears poured down her face. When her life seemed like it was falling apart, she fought for peace in her household, in her workplace, and in her own heart. Are you a peacekeeper or a peacemaker?
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO FIGHT FOR PEACE IN YOUR LIFE?"
LORD, you are the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Thank you for empowering me to stand on your promises. Please show me how to be a peacemaker for your name’s sake. Please forgive me for letting my fear of man displace the power of your steadfast love.
