Blessed Are the Merciful

Matthew 5:7

“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.”

Mercy is the only course of action for us as Christians because it acknowledges that we are not the judge! Mercy does not mean that we turn a blind eye to sin, but instead, we get to receive God’s heart for others. Being merciful brings us to a place to pray for those we would wish to judge. Next time you think about condemning someone in your heart, ask the Lord to show you how He sees that person. Be ready to receive a supernatural abundance of love and compassion for that person. Micah sums it up for us in this one verse, “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” What a fantastic opportunity for us to reflect the character of God in a time when people are desperately seeking to find rightness within themselves! Our world is just as void of justice for those who do evil as it is of basic human kindness. We point fingers and assign blame to others but we are only bringing judgement upon ourselves!

"MERCY IS THE ONLY COURSE OF ACTION FOR US AS CHRISTIANS BECAUSE IT ACKNOWLEDGES THAT WE ARE NOT THE JUDGE."

LORD, you are the judge. Please forgive me for trying to take you out of your rightful place because of my pride. Thank you for the mercy you have lavished upon me. Please help me to show mercy to others so they may know who you are.
