PROVERBS 19:20
“Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future.”
This verse gives a clear directive to obtain wisdom. Listen when wise people give you advice! When I refuse to bring a jacket when my mother tells me to, I quickly regret my ignorance. Many times we can miss the message because we disapprove of the messenger. While receiving correction and instruction may sting in the moment, listening will lead to wisdom and prosperity. Are we guilty of ignoring sage advice because of pride? Maybe the Lord chooses to give His understanding with a side dose of humility.

LORD, thank you for giving knowledge to those who ask for it. We don’t deserve to understand your wisdom. Please forgive me for rejecting advice and being prideful. Thank you for your Holy Spirit who instructs me. Please help me to seek wisdom as people look for wealth, and to accept advice when I need it.
